Evaluation of Web-sites

"Things To Keep In Mind When Using Web Sites For Research"

Under Informational Web Pages, the important criteria are:

1. Authority-- Who created the page, how do you verify who they are and what qualifies them to speak?

2. Accuracy-- Are the Sources listed?

3. Objectivity-- Is the site free of advertising? If not, who is advertising on the page and what might their bias' be?

4. Up to Date-- When was it created, and when was it revised.

5. Coverage-- Is it still under construction?

 Questions to think about

What is the Purpose of the page?

Who is its intended audience?

What are the Sources?

Is the Author Identified?

What is their expertise?

Is the content Accurate?

What is the Point of View?
