Name of Camp: Manzanar ---In the Owens
Valley of Eastern California Desert
WRA Photograph B-136 Clem Albers April
2 1942
(War Relocation Authority)
The WRA Agency produced photographs
and dialogue for positive public relations.
Most
pictures show happy people and new quarters.
The
documents are government photographs and quotes about manzanar.
The pictures are presented in a powerpoint
presentation prepared by
San Francisco City Museum
and combine photos and quotes
The picture we chose was a photograph
of a field full of cars.
They demonstrate that
the owners of the cars are property owners that were displaced.
This picture combined with another photo of distributor
caps and a quote about the caps being removed
to
keep the cars from leaving, show that the aim was to keep the
residents of the camps in the camps.

photo is taken from,
